Abstract

Quin origen tenen, d’on provenen, aquestes representacions socials? I social i col·lectiu?

The current crisis represents a key phenomenon to understand the present days and the years to come. The generation that studied this situation and listened to dark predictions about the future, will find a changed world and will face it from a different mentality, perhaps they will resigned or on the contrary, with a greater commitment and political participation. The view received from the crisis, the politicians, the measures taken, the role of the mass media and social networks will have a key step in shaping their images, learning from the past and it’s projections. For this reason I consider this an important subject of study. The thesis tries to answer these questions: What are the social representations of students regarding the crisis? What are the causes, consequences, responsible? What role granted to the citizens in the state institutions and international organizations? What solutions are proposed? It’s background? Where do these social representations come from? How does the current economic crisis affects the look of the students about the past and the present? Has it changed the way of understanding the issues? How does it influence in their vision of the future? How they see their personal and professional future? And a social group? How the variables gender / social class determine their role in the future, if the crisis changes these archetypes? The research is: 1) A longitudinal study about changes and continuities in social representations of a group of men and women on the economic crisis since 2nd of ESO (2012) up to high school (2016). 2) An action/ research to check the impact of social sciences classes in their learning and understanding of the current crisis and economic problems. The tools used are: personal questionnaires, thematic questions about news related to the economic crisis, lifelines, interviews, focused groups and observations were analyzed quantitatively and qualitatively. While the didactical sequel relates the crisis of 1873, 1929 and 2008 using different types of sources (graphic testimonies, maps, documents, etc.) to check after receiving the classes the results changed again answering the questionnaires. The results show that boys and girls blame the political leaders as the maximum responsible of the crisis, there is an urgent feeling in renewing the current policies, but are much more cautious when proposing solutions. The proposals to their problems and evictions are viable, while they are much less lucid in providing solutions to unemployment. Despite the crisis has been a very serious problem for them and they believe that it will affect their future and they are confident in achieving their life projects. We note that girls from underprivileged social classes are less convinced in fulfilling their dreams. In fact, they see themselves working in precarious jobs in the economy of Benidorm (bars waitresses, cooks, hotel maids). Instead, the girls that reach high school trust in theirs possibilities. Students who receive classes of History and economics show greater dominance of financial concepts (preferential interest rate risk premium...) which become more difficult to define than the rest. After receiving lessons of history, they are more critical about the current crisis, they visualize more culpable and responsible and conceive the economic thinking as an understanding of inferential knowledge and relational variables dominating the multiple causes and circumstances surrounding it.
