Se ha construido esta tesis sobre fundamentos cuya solidez resulta en la actualidad difícilmente cuestionable. Aceptando: que logos no es razón sino discurso de la razón, pues la razón siempre encuentra un medio simbólico para manifestarse, sea éste verbal, gráfico, gestual, etc.; que el proyecto arquitectónico es ya, en sí, arquitectura; y que el dibujo está ineludiblemente presente en todas las fases del proceso proyectual; habrá por fuerza que aceptar que: Desde la razón, la más genuina actividad del arquitecto (acción arquitectónica) se manifiesta siempre en un proyecto (discurso gráfico arquitectónico) a través del dibujo (expresión gráfica arquitectónica), medio simbólico de expresión de la razón del autor.

El dibujo de arquitectura es en efecto el objeto de este trabajo. El dibujo arquitectónico en toda su amplitud y profundidad, en toda su potencialidad. Quiérese decir considerado, más allá de su evidente valor instrumental o técnico, como un auténtico lenguaje, como el medio simbólico imprescindible para la manifestación de la razón arquitectónica. Y en consecuencia, afirmando su papel constituyente y determinante en la totalidad de la elaboración del proyecto. Porque hay un momento en ésta, el inicial, el de concepción, en que el dibujo arquitectónico muestra todo su poderío. Y no obstante parece evidente que es el menos tratado e investigado hasta hoy, por más que sin su consideración racional resulte imposible la comprensión de la especificidad del dibujo de arquitectura.

Se ha articulado la tesis en dos Partes, acompañadas de una Introducción, unas Conclusiones y una Bibliografía. La Parte Primera tiene por cometido aclarar ciertas cuestiones fundamentales y la posición de la autora ante ellas, para evitar que en la Parte Segunda, núcleo del trabajo, se den por supuesto o bien sean necesarios digresiones y excursos que, sin duda, dada la densidad del texto, dificultarían o incluso impedirían la unidad del discurso, y desde luego su seguimiento.

La Parte Segunda se centra en el dibujo arquitectónico como clave de la acción arquitectónica y crisol de su correspondiente proyecto. De modo que, si el dibujo de concepción es prefigurar la intención arquitectónica, la articulación del proyecto es configurar dicha intención, y aún su lectura será un refigurar de nuevo todo lo anterior.

Los dibujos que acompañan al texto escrito en absoluto tienen un carácter ornamental; bien al contrario, constituyen un discurso propio e independiente del verbal, de tal forma que ambos, cada uno en su lenguaje, responden a una misma intención, sin reflejarse puntualmente.

This thesis was built on foundations the solidity of which is difficult to bring into doubt in the present day. If we accept: that logos is not reason but the discourse of reason, since reason always finds a symbolic medium through which to manifest itself; that the architectural design is already architecture as such; and that the drawing is inescapably present at all stages of the design process; then we are obliged to accept that: from the basis of reason, the most genuine activity of the architect (architectural action) is always manifested in a design (architectural graphic discourse) through drawing (architectural graphic expression), the symbolic medium of expression of the author's reason.

Architectural drawing is in effect the object of this work. Architectural drawing in all its breadth and all its depth, in all its potential. It should be considered, over and above its obvious instrumental or technical value, as a veritable language, the indispensable symbolic medium for the manifestation of architectural reason. And consequently, it states its constituent and determining role in the entirety of the design process. Because there is one moment of this, at the beginning, the conception, when the architectural drawing displays all its power. And yet, clearly, it is the stage which to date has been least dealt with, least explored, despite the fact that without considering it rationally it is impossible to understand the specific nature of architectural drawing.

The thesis is organized in two Parts, together with an Introduction, Conclusions and a Bibliography. The objective of the First Part is to clarify certain fundamental issues and the author's position regarding them, so that in the Second Part, the core of the work, neither are they taken for granted nor do they require digressions or straying from the point in hand, which given the density of the text, would hinder or even prevent the unity of the discourse, and therefore the possibility of following it.

The Second Part focuses on architectural drawing as the key to architectural action and the crucible of its corresponding design. Thus, if the conceptional drawing is the preshaping of the architectural intention, the articulation of the design is the shaping of this intention, and its interpretation will be a reshaping of everything done up to then.

The drawings that accompany the text are in no way ornamental; on the contrary, they constitute a discourse of their own, independent of the verbal one. The two discourses, each in their own language, respond to the same intention, without reflecting each other at any given point.
