At the present time, the appearancement of new materials for uses in civil engineering has allowed the application of these materials as repair or reinforcement materials of existent bridges. Day by day it is known about the existence of more problems of durability of the concrete and prestressing bridges, likewise, more about their behavior is known. Of the constant emergence of these new materials and constructive techniques as much for the construccion as for the repair of structures, one can deduce that with the increase of use of these materias they can descend the costs of the repair and to improve the characteristics of structural behavior before the solicitations and aggressive elements.

The present study has consisted on defining the technique of repair of existent bridges using aramid fibers and carbon fibers fabrics (CFRP) hit outwardly, to minimize the cost of the repairs of existent bridges, analyzing the convenience and reliability of the use of these, in terms of structural recovery and additionally the use of the external prestressing as element of reinforcement. As for the experimental campaign, they are determined the characteristicas of adherence initially in prismatic test specimens, to establish the different levels of tension able to support the different interfaces among materials; considering and evaluating the different epoxics products and different possibilities of union and placement of the strups of compound material.

The second phase consis in, to rehearse a model of two-span continuous bridge of 7.2 m. Length each one, and total longitude of 14.40m. Of box-girder prestressed concrete beams and height of 0.60m. with external prestressing (without blockade in middle support) without cracking until the failure; and taking into account the suffering damages, the pertinent repairs are developed and they rehearse again to break once again but now with blockade in middle support. Then it repairs the pattern again; this repairs aremade having like reference the data of adherence of the 1st phase, for what the repair of the pattern in made restoring the external prestressing; reinforcing to flexion (substituting longitudinal passive armors) and to sharp (traverse armors) for rigid strips of aranid fiber properly instrumented.

With the results of this second phase, the new breakcapacity is determined compared with the original one and, therefore obtaining conclusions about the reliability of the technique of used repair. It is important therefore, to develop an analysis of the theoretical models versus the experimental rehearsals to obtain the pertinent comparisons of: deformations, behavior of the prestressing cords, sectional behavior in support areas and midspan sections. It allows it to reach important conclusions of face to the application possibilities to the repairs in real cases.

As third phase, a new series is rehearsed that corresponds a model of concrete bridge without external prestressing, which is initially tested to break for then to be repaired using the carbon fibers fabrics (CFRP).

As fourth and last experimental phase thought about the use of the carbon fibers and of the external prestressing as repair and reinforcement technique respectively. With the results of this study, face suggestions are made to future real applications and future investigations.
