Abstract

The nature of the SRM (Switched Reluctance Motor) makes this type of motor one of the candidates to investigate over the next few years. Its mechanical development is simple and inexpensive, but requires an electronic controller capable of regulating the static power converter that feeds this drive. The great capacity to withstand faults of SRM and its high power density and efficiency, plays an important role in critical applications. This thesis is based on studies and tests already carried out by GAECE (Switched Reluctance Motor Group) research group, which is have been able to test SRM machines with different control strategies working as a motor. Several publications in scientific journals endorse these studies. This paper presents the lines of work focused on the generation of current drives SRG (Switched Reluctance Generator), either with machines that contain magnets permanent or with machines that do not contain them, in a sustainable approach. The study of the HRM 6/5 (Hybrid Reluctance Motor) working as a motor and as a generator is the main novelty. This machine contains magnets between the pole windings and close the gap, and the coils are arranged in the crown stator, forming independent magnetic structures. This new concept of machine with permanent magnets allow higher flow concatenated values, and static torque curves enhanced with respect to conventional machines of SRM. The parameters for characterization of the machine, as well as the equivalent model have been presented and studied, as well as the methodology of design for the HRM, that has been detailed following the necessary steps for the construction of this electric machine and simulating the effect of the permanent magnet. The influence of magnets on the dynamic response of the HRM differs to the classic SRM machines, therefore, control in generator mode parameters have been identified and studied. The main objectives of this section are studying, simulate, and implement the necessary drivers for the control of the drive HRM as generator, first on the platform of development dSpace and then over the new control with DSC (Digital Signal Controller) platform. The tools used for this work are software tools as FEA (Finite Elements Analysis), MatLab-Simulink, dSpace with bench test and Code Composer Studio development with DSC and programming in C++ language
